Thanks to Karl Priest for sending in the email that sparked this post.
Yes, reports indicate that Captain Rebecca Lobach‘s social media accounts were scrubbed before the U.S. Army released her name following the tragic mid-air collision involving a Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport. Additionally, there are mentions that the social media accounts of her family members were also scrubbed. This information has been discussed across various platforms and news outlets, including posts found on X and articles from websites like The Gateway Pundit, MEAWW News, and Armed Forces Press. The scrubbing of these accounts has led to speculation about what might have been on her social media profiles that necessitated such actions.
No official explanations have been provided by either the Army or Captain Lobach’s family regarding the reasons for scrubbing her social media accounts. This leads to much warranted questions as to why? There are mentions on social media that she had a “life-partner” and that she attended Pride events, indicating her involvement in or support for the non-normative sexual community. However, this should not be a reason for scrubbing an account.
She also served as a White House Military Social Aide during the Biden administration, volunteering to support the President and First Lady at various White House events. There is speculation that she had many negative comments on the current President Trump.
Below is the best video of this collision. Many have speculated that it looks deliberate. I am not suggesting that, only mentioning what others have said.
Social Media Scrubbing of Captain Rebecca Lobach:
- Reports of Scrubbing:
- Following the tragic mid-air collision involving a Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport on January 29, 2025, reports emerged that Captain Rebecca Lobach’s social media accounts were scrubbed. This was noted before the U.S. Army officially released her name.
- Extent of Scrubbing:
- Not only were Lobach’s accounts deleted, but there were also claims that the social media accounts of her family members, including her sisters and parents, were similarly scrubbed. Profiles on platforms like LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter), and Pinterest were specifically mentioned as being removed or made inaccessible.
- Speculation and Theories:
- The scrubbing has fueled numerous speculations and conspiracy theories. Some posts on X and articles from outlets like The Gateway Pundit suggest that this action might have been taken to hide information about her political views, personal life, or connections to the Biden administration, where she served as a military social aide.
- There was particular interest in whether her social media contained anti-Trump sentiments or posts related to her participation in Pride events, which some speculated might have been a reason for the scrubbing, especially in the context of ongoing debates about diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
- Official Response:
- No official statement from the U.S. Army or Lobach’s family has been released explaining the scrubbing of her social media. The Army did mention that her name was withheld at the family’s request, but no details were provided regarding the social media accounts.
- Public and Media Reaction:
- The incident has led to significant public discourse, with many on social media platforms like X questioning the motives behind such thorough removal of online presence. Some have criticized the lack of transparency, while others have speculated on the implications for privacy and public information in high-profile incidents involving military personnel.
- Investigative Actions:
- Armed Forces Press and other outlets have indicated plans to file Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to investigate potential Department of Defense involvement in the scrubbing or collaboration with the family.
This situation highlights ongoing concerns about privacy, transparency, and the rapid removal of digital footprints in the context of public tragedies involving notable figures. However, without direct confirmation or detailed explanation from official sources, much of the discourse remains speculative.
