Current Status: Elevated Threat Environment (National Terrorism Advisory System)
💻 Digital Defense (High Priority)
- Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Set up 2FA on all banking, email, and social media accounts today.
- Update Software: Patch your phone, computer, and "Smart Home" devices (cameras, routers) immediately to close security gaps.
- Verify Information: Expect "Information Warfare." Before sharing a post about an attack or disruption, verify it via an official source like the FBI, CISA.gov, or local news.
- Offline Access: Keep a physical or offline digital copy of important contacts and medical records in case of localized internet outages.
🏠 Home & Utility Readiness
- Fuel Up: Keep your vehicle’s gas tank at least half full. Power grid disruptions can affect gas station pumps.
- Cash on Hand: Keep a small amount of cash in small denominations. Cyber-attacks often target payment processing systems (credit card readers).
- Water & Food: Ensure you have a 3-day supply of water (1 gallon per person/day) and non-perishable food.
- Backup Power: Charge all portable power banks. If you rely on electric medical devices, ensure your backup battery is tested.
🏙️ Public Awareness
- "See Something, Say Something": Report unattended bags, unusual drone activity near infrastructure, or individuals photographing security checkpoints to local law enforcement.
- Identify Exits: When in crowded "soft targets" (malls, stadiums, transit hubs), take 5 seconds to locate the nearest two exits.
- Avoid Protests: High-tension events are currently unpredictable. Avoid large political gatherings or demonstrations where crowds can be easily exploited by agitators.
✈️ Travel & Communication
- Check Flight Status: Anticipate delays or cancellations for international travel, especially toward Europe or the Middle East, as global air corridors shift.
- Family Plan: Establish a "check-in" protocol. Pick a specific person outside your immediate area to be the "central contact" if local cell towers are congested.
