“The Emperor’s New Clothes” is a short tale written by Hans Christian Andersen, about two weavers who promise an emperor a new suit of clothes that they say is invisible to those who are unfit for their positions, stupid, or incompetent – while in reality, they make no clothes at all, making everyone believe the clothes are invisible to them. When the emperor parades before his subjects in his new “clothes”, no one dares to say that they do not see any suit of clothes on him for fear that they will be seen as stupid. Finally, a child cries out, “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!“
I have often reflected on how and why Donald Trump became President Trump. You have to agree that he was not, at first, a likely candidate to win the office of President. All the polls had him down by big margins right up until the point he won.
What was the attraction to a billionaire reality TV show personality? Here I must confess I have still never seen a single episode of the Apprentice. I never cared for what they call reality TV. There are many reasons he won but one thing is he is like the little boy who cried out “But he isn’t wearing anything at all!“
Then Candidate Donald Trump was saying what many of us were thinking. We were too frightened by the judgment of our liberal relatives and coworkers to agree out loud. However, in our hearts and among like-minded friends we were cheering him on.
If you disagree with a lefty, even a loved one, it isn’t a reasonable discussion at all. They sprinkle descriptive words like racist, bigot, homophobe, misogynist, xenophobe and Islamaphobe throughout their arguments against reason.
Criticize an idea or statement that comes from a black, Hispanic, woman, Muslim or someone from the LGBT community (or is it LGBTTQQIAAP now? They keep adding letters to this and I can’t keep up.) and the left will certainly label you with one of the derogatory names in the paragraph above.
The left is now the racist, ageist, bigots who argue against reason simply because it comes out of the mouth of a white male who may also be over 50. I cannot help that I am a 60-year-old white man. I was born this way. That used to be what people said to rightfully defend minority groups. Yes, I was born this way and you shouldn’t judge me for the way I was born.
The charge of being an old white man is not working so well for the Democrats. That’s why they really flip out against blacks, Hispanics, gays, women and other conservative non-white men. Their racist attacks against white men cannot work if other traditional minorities agree with us!
The famous Democrat James Carville said, “It’s the economy stupid!” I add to that a new saying. It is the outcomes stupid! That is why President Trump will be re-elected in 2020. He gets it. The politicians have been wearing no clothes.
