We the people, through our elected representatives, can put an end to what I will call Supreme Court Circus Hearings. It may not completely end it but it will certainly diminish the grandstanding. Here is how:
- All Senators on the United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary must have their questions submitted in writing and read by a single person who is not a politician and who is known to be an Independent.
- No allegation or accusation that comes to light more than 30 days after a nominee is announced for the Supreme Court shall be entertained.
I believe rules along those two lines would end the made for TV drama we experience, hasten the process, save taxpayer dollars and cause less stress for nominees of both parties.
