President Trump – Sean Hannity at the 193rd Special Operations Wing

President Trump – Sean Hannity at the 193rd Special Operations Wing

Yesterday’s invitation-only event was great! There were around a thousand of us packed into the Fuel Cell hanger at the 193rd SOW at the Harrisburg International Airport. Since I worked there I was able to park on base and visit with some veteran friends. We had lunch and lots of catching up. The depth of respect and support for President Trump was overwhelming, even among the younger veterans.

I must have shaken hands with several hundred fellow supporters and collected a few dozen business cards. Thanks to Lisa Vranicar-Patton for the invitation and the hard work she is doing to promote a fellow veteran Paul Mango for Governor of Pennsylvania. It all starts with the state governments. Brandon Rumbaugh is a fellow wounded veteran working to get Paul Mango elected as well. Brandon is a great guy too. If you ever get a chance to meet him you will likely be able to say you “knew him when..”

Also got to meet a man I have admired for a long time who ironically shares the same name. He’s the famous one! Smart, humble, articulate and straight to the point, Rep Mike Kelly. If you do not know Mike Kelly you should. A great American!

President Trump first did an interview with Sean Hannity at one end of the hanger and then came to center state to talk about tax reform and honor our great trucking industry.

Sal runs an internet radio veteran-centric talk show through his facebook and live streaming along with the Kay Zern Veterans Outreach Program. Maybe we can use this platform to help support one another nationwide and help get Paul Mango elected Governor of Pennsylvania. Let hope!

For Better or Worse – Like it or Not

For Better or Worse – Like it or Not

For Better or Worse America created the need for and the Presidency of Donald Trump.

There was a lot of talk about the Democratic Post Mortem after the election. What drove that story so heavily? It is simple. Money! The Big Government – Big Business donors wanted to know how all their money did not propel Hillary Clinton to the Presidency.

Excluding Super PAC’s Clinton raised just about 1 billion dollars. President Trump raised about half of that. If you include Super PAC’s Clinton spent 1 Billion 119 Millon Dollars. On the other hand, President Trump spent 646 Million dollars. Here is a good link with details that are quick and easy to read. Just scroll to the chart after the first few paragraphs.

The phenomenon of President Trump is an outcropping of Americans being sick and tired of special interests buying the Presidency. Donald Trump himself was the biggest donor to his campaign followed by small donors. Hillary Clinton’s donors were wealthy billionaires, millionaires along with labor unions. Most donations represented special interests. Same link as the previous paragraph contains this information.

Think about this for a few minutes. Would Hillary Clinton be cutting costs on the F 35? Would Hillary be cutting costs on Air Force 1? Would she be working tirelessly, meeting with her traditional opponents, meeting with people from inner cities, getting the Keystone Pipeline approved, saving jobs, creating jobs, contacting the main leaders we need to work with in the world right away? The list goes on and one.

Why is Trump doing these things? Because he can. He is not constrained by the traditional players who help get politicians elected. He owes nothing to special interests. I’m not just picking on Hillary Clinton either. Every President before (as well as other politicians) get elected with the help of people who want to set their agenda for them. If they don’t play ball they don’t get money the next time they run for election. I know this because a former politician explained this to me and it was why he got out!

So, for better or worse, like it or not, Donald Trump is the President America created and the President America needs. We created the need because we the people have not been engaged enough to support our candidates through small donations and or volunteering our time.

We the people allowed special interests to buy our politicians. We need a President and other politicians like Donald Trump. People who do not need the job for the money. People who have a deep and abiding love for our country. People who connect with the average person. People who tell it like it is.

We will some day need another Presidential candidate like President Trump. We better start looking for that person now. We also need politicians at all levels fo Federal, State and Local Government that fit the aforementioned qualities.

One group of people come to mind. Veterans! Especially those who have served long enough to have a retirement check. No offense to our brothers and sisters who served honorably for shorter periods of time. While I don’t make tons of cash in my retirement check it gives me an edge. That is how I was able to start my own business. Officers and others who served longer get very good retirement checks. They don’t need the money. We may not be millionaires or billionaires but we will not be pursuing a political position for the money.

I am convinced the Republican Party, while not perfect, is the best current vehicle to work through as veterans. While not all Democrats are bad it is the party of lawlessness, anarchy, violence and emotionalism. Think about the protests that have been occurring since President Trump won. Excluding the Women’s March, most Democratic-led protests are violent and ugly. Property gets destroyed, people harassed and injured. Compare that with Tea Party protests. They left places cleaner than they found them. No property was destroyed and nobody got hurt.

Because of that, I intend to start a new National Website called RebpulicanVets.com. Coming soon!

WHY ARE U.S. MARINES CALLED DEVIL DOGS?

June 28, 1914, “The War to End All Wars” was started when Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated in Sarajevo. This “Black Hand” assassination caused a series of cascading events, which triggered what became to be known as World War I. Old alliances were rekindled and new ones were formed, such as the Triple Entente (Allied Forces) and Central Powers (the Germany/Austria-Hungary Alliance). Germany, which had a war machine unmatched in Europe, led an offensive consolidating power and thrusting through Belgium to ensure they would have a strategic and logistical foothold, before attacking France and points west.

President Woodrow Wilson initially wanted to stay out of the European Theater of War, but the specter of the raging battle and the increasing strength of the German forces, proved to be such a threat long term, that the U.S. president felt if an intervention was not made now, while others (British and the French) could help, the U.S.A. might one day be overrun by a fast moving and superior force.

Therefore, the decision was to meet the enemy in the field, by projecting America’s force forward, rather than allowing the enemy to gain power and then to seize the initiative, by striking the U.S. on its shores.

Once the decision was made, America turned up the spigot of our vast and expanding industrial manufacturing machine and produced the weapons of war and transportation needed to fight a protracted war on foreign soil.

The British, French and other allies were being severely pounded by the opposing Central Powers forces, which were spearheaded by Germans, who were poised to move against the French in a decisive battle that would give the Central Forces a clear path to Paris and essentially the rest of the West as well. This battle theater was set against the mouth of Belleau Wood as the Germans had taken a strategic fortified position inside the Wood, which could be logistically supported via their northern and eastern flanks. In the minds of the allied leaders, the German war machine had to be stopped here.

The Germans were well dug in and were easily able to repel attack after attack brought against them by the French and British, but now the Americans would join up with their brothers at arms and make a final thrust.

General John (Black Jack) Pershing along with Generals Frank Parker, Douglas MacArthur, Tasker Bliss and Mason Patrick along with others, would form the command and control to carry forward the U.S. counter-offensive to cut off and decapitate the expansionist forces.

The U.S. Army along with French and British forces, battled to a high attrition yielding stalemate against the dug in German forces, largely because of the strategically superior hardened positions that the Germans held within Belleau Wood. Thousands of allied troops were cut-to-pieces by German intersecting machine gun fire and obliterating artillery. Something different had to be done…

America went to its secret weapon; the United States Marine Corps. What the Commandant of the Marine Corps (Maj. General George Barnett) knew then and what the free world was hoping to be true: was that it’s really not about superior numbers, superior weapons, nor is it about strategic positioning; in the final analysis, it boils down to how righteous the cause, how dedicated and ferocious your fighting men are, and the Marines were all that and more! So, the Marines were not simply deployed against the Germans in World War I, as much as they were unleashed upon them!

The German positions were semi-encircled by the allied forces to stop further encroachment toward Paris and the west, but the German divisions with the utilization of fainting and probing techniques, managed to punch through primarily French-held lines to the north. The Leathernecks, learning of this breach in the perimeter, went on a six mile “Route Step” force march and were able to re-establish the position, plugging the hole in the line made by the retreating French.

In subsequent battles, it has been documented that the retreating French soldiers repeatedly warned the advancing Marines, to retreat, do not go forward and a prominent Marine’s answer was: “RETREAT? HELL, WE JUST GOT HERE!!!

Time after time, the Marines would prove to be an unrelenting and unpredictable force, which was characterized by one recount of a captured German soldier; “We have Americans (Marines) opposite us who are terribly reckless fellows.

It seemed the Marine ethos was to attack, hold, and then attack again. The word retreat was not in their lexicon! No matter whether the Germans used flesh-ripping machine gun fire, vaporizing artillery fire or, lethal mustard gas, the Marines held their ground and drove forward. Even when out of ammunition and with blood-shot eyes, reddened by the debilitating effects of phosgene, chlorine, and mustard gas, the Marines drove forward regardless, with hand to hand combat and bayonet.

On June 26th, 1918; the U.S. Marine Corps 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, under command of Major Shearer, supported by two companies of the 4th Machine Gun Battalion and the 15th Company of the 6th Machine Gun Battalion finally ejected the Germans from Belleau Wood. The captured and defeated German soldiers clearly in shocked devastation, had never faced an enemy so stubborn, so ruthless in battle, so motivated and so dedicated; because of all these things, the German troops named these Marines, “Teufelshunden!” or Devil Dogs!

On the next Marine Corps Birthday remember, that just as many of the nation states that existed back at the time of the first world war, we are neither promised sovereignty, life nor liberty, but by the staunch posturing of our leadership and the unrelenting spirit and sometimes unpredictability of our military foot soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines.

So, that supposed war to end all wars failed miserably to achieve its intended purpose as stated back then. Clearly without the rule of law, a spirited military and borders, we have no nation and, without an unyielding dedication to duty, honor and the constitution in that military, we have no United States of America.

COLD WAR VETERANS – Bring us back under the tent…

COLD WAR VETERANS – Bring us back under the tent…

It is important that veterans that took the same oaths and carried out their duties in an honorable fashion, be officially recognized by the military services, the Veterans Administration, the Congress and the Office of the President.

We veterans are overlooked for government employment, we take a back seat at the V.A. Medical Centers, we have no official medal for our sacrifice and honorable service during hazardous and danger-filled conditions; many of which are classified.

Military service members do not pick the circumstances that occur during their time of service; what we can be sure of is, Cold War Veterans volunteered to walk into an uncertain future and swore this oath before God and country:

“I, THE COLD WAR VETERAN, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”

I don’t think ANY service member before nor afterward, have uttered any different oaths of service than that one. Our dedication and will to give our lives, health and all that comes with that, in service to our nation.

We deserve official acknowledgment and certification of sacrifices and commitment, and that acknowledgment should be ratified by Congress and a bonifide citation and an accompanying medal should be issued immediately before the last of us are in our nineties.

Lastly, some in government have mentioned the expense to produce and issue such a citation/medal is prohibitive; well I argue that sending billions to the Iranians and hundreds of millions to the Palestinians is what is prohibitive!

President Donald J. Trump, stop the flow of cash to the enemies that we have fought against and authorize and fund an official Cold War Medal and Citation for ALL Cold War Veteran or their survivors.
